Anacostia Waterfront Initiative

About The Project

For several years, the District has been engaged in an initiative to transform the Anacostia waterfront by revitalizing neighborhoods, enhancing public space, and cleaning up the river. DC Appleseed has advocated for laws that ensure that this waterfront development improves job opportunities for local residents, creates more employment opportunities, and protects the Anacostia River from further pollution. Now that these laws are in place, we are monitoring their implementation and using lessons learned to improve economic development throughout the city.
