About The Project
DC Appleseed organizes and coordinates stakeholders to devise and implement strategies to restore the Anacostia River. One strategy has been the development of environmental standards to govern development and redevelopment within the Anacostia Waterfront Development Zone's area of jurisdiction. We are also working with the DC Department of the Environment to ensure that pollution reduction of the River is a mandate of the Department. In addition, we have helped devise federal legislation that would establish and fund a multi-jurisdictional plan for restoring the river. Pro bono support for our efforts has been provided by Patton Boggs LLP and Covington & Burling.
