About The Project

DC families and schools rely on litigation to resolve special education disputes more than any state in the nation besides New York. In response to the need to promote alternative dispute resolution options for families with children in DC schools, DC Appleseed created SchoolTalk, a non-profit organization whose mission is to prevent and resolve special education disputes. We continue to advocate for alternative dispute resolution opportunities within the District’s special education system to help ensure that students get the education they deserve with less time, resources and good will lost to litigation.
