DC Appleseed’s 7th report card finds that although the District has established itself in several areas as being a leader in addressing the HIV/AIDS epidemic, the District still has a long way to go to fully address the problem. Specifically, the District has made advances in HIV/AIDS awareness in its public schools, condom distribution throughout the city, HIV testing, and its own ability to track the epidemic through the collection of better data. However, the District is not seeing the needed improvement in reduced new infections, reduced late testers, reduced viral loads, and reduced deaths.
